Time flies when you're busy living...

Finally with a Saturday off I figured it was time to add a new post to this...wait, what is this called again? Oh that's right, MY BLOG. It's not that I'm against updating it. Its just hard to remember to get back to it between shooting photos, uploading and editing photos, Facebooking (is that even a word?!) and then tweeting about my photos after the fact. Add in the fact that I've got a soon-to-be 11-month on the prowl and trying to find time to blog about my photography (and life I suppose) can be the last thing on my list right after the other last thing on my list (which probably has something to do with Facebook or Twitter). To sum up the past few months, here are some of the highlights: - Iowa Football: I wrapped up my 2nd year of shooting the Hawkeyes football team in action for Replay Photos (www.replayphotos.com/iowaphotostore). As a die-hard fan I continue to work on trying to separate my personal feelings and professional obligations when I'm o

Avalanche Concert: Bucket List Updated

Image
If you're into concerts the way I am you understand the rush that you feel when one of your favorite bands/singers come onto stage. Imagine how much bigger that rush is when you are given the opportunity to be within a foot of your favorite band/singer with a camera strapped around your neck. That's exactly what I got to experience a few weeks ago when I got to shoot the Avalanche Tour concert at  McElroy Auditorium  in Waterloo, IA.   McElroy (©http://www.pickmcelroy.com/images/mcelroy_ext.jpg) The show featured a stellar line up of bands--some that I had seen before ( Stone Sour, Halestorm , Skillet  and Theory of a Deadman) along with a band that I hadn't seen before ( Art of Dying ). As a fan of hard music I'd be lying if I didn't admit how excited I was to get to shoot this concert, especially getting to shoot Stone Sour, one of my all-time favorite bands(I'll refer to them as S.S. the remainder of the post). I had seen them twice before but had n

Did I just hear my name?

Growing up I couldn't win a prize at a "Win Everytime" carnival game. For some reason I have never been granted with a great amount of luck, or athleticism, or genious, or stunning good looks...this list could go on and on. But knowing this I still chose to enter in a photograph, that I took a few weeks back, into my college's 2011 artshow. Here's the image I submitted: ©2011 JScott Image and Design This was an open themed contest meaning you could submit just about anything you wanted, in just about any medium (photograph, painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.) as long as it was yours and wasn't offensive; those were about the two main criteria. I had never even entered into an artshow before, let alone won anything in any of them. That is why having a print of mine receive a top honor in this show, that I literally snuck into at the last minute, is not only exciting but also very satisfying at the same time! The image (which I hope shows up in this bl

Welcome to my first ever blog post

In the competitve world of photography one of the things that I'm beginning to learn is that you have to have many ways to reach your fans and clients. Thus, this blog. I can't guarantee that everything that I put on here will make a lot of sense or have any value to a large portion of the world but for my small group of followers hopefully it provides a little more insight into my crazy mind. If you have any ideas on how I can make this blog better please don't hesitate to reach out to me at jscottimagedesign@gmail.com . I appreciate you taking the time to check out this evolving monster!
