Photographing for a good cause! The 3rd Annual Dubuque's Cruisin For A Cure Car Show

I'm excited to finally share that I have been offered the opportunity to serve as an official event sponsor and photographer for the 3rd Annual Dubuque's Cruisin For A Cure Car Show in Dubuque, Iowa on Sunday June 2, 2013. It's scheduled to go on, rain or shine, from 10 am-3 pm in the Kennedy Mall parking lot next to Richardson Motors off JFK Road.


This event should be a fun one not only for myself but for everyone that comes out--especially that it's being put on for a great cause! All of the proceeds from the event benefit Dubuque's Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society!

In 15 Years of Sports Photography: A First!

With 15 years of experience shooting sports of all sorts I thought I had experienced just about everything possible. Then Saturday happened. Both sides of the gym were packed with fans ready to erupt, like shown above, in support for its respective team! I was court-side with my camera for the highly anticipated matchup between MFL MarMac and Cascade in boys playoff basketball. There was an estimated 2,000+ people in attendance to take in the big game in the gorgeous gym at West Delaware High School in Manchester. I was shooting for Sports Spotlight , a Des Moines based publication that spotlights high school and collegiate athletics across the state. It was a pretty big game as the winner would punch its ticket to the state basketball tournament in Des Moines and the loser would see its season end. "I'm from the Manchester area and went to Maquoketa Valley High School," she said with a warm, welcoming chuckle. "Sure, there were opportunities to move away and work in a big city but I don't know, I guess I just love this area."

JScott Images Earns 1st Place in Iowa Marketing Awards

Members of the Independence student section stand behind a giant sign showing their excitement for winning #WeWantJScott. They were just one of many Eastern Iowa schools to help turn the contest into an award winning marketing campaign. 140 characters. Three simple words. One hashtag. What started out as a fun contest to help create a buzz for JScott Images on social media --especially on Twitter --turned into an award winning marketing campaign recently when the contest earned two major awards during the Iowa Marketing Awards at the Professional Photographers of Iowa 2014 Winter Convention. #WeWantJScott beat out many other great submissions and earned 1st place as the state's top marketing campaign for studio brand and it also won the coveted "Bootstrapper" Award as the top low-cost marketing idea by any photographer in the state!  Here's me receiving my awards with now former PPI President and current Master Photographer John Stalzer of Stalze
